To learn German in Berlin is an oxymoron, where English is the lingua franca and expats can get by with danke, bitte and zum Mitnehmen. While I can handle more than the standard German small talk, I’ve still got a long way to go – and working a 9-7 job in English doesn’t help. One of the options to keep the German alive apart from learning German on my own is to take evening German courses in Berlin.
